August has been another great month! We have been so excited to celebrate the one year anniversary of Bria’s adoption day, and it was more wonderful than we imagined! Before this celebration, we had a few other special events this month.

We started the month with a pool party with all the local families who have adopted or are in the process of adopting through our agency. Bria had a great time swimming, eating pizza and playing with several other adorable children from China.

The next highlight of this month was a visit from Bria’s friends Tyler and Alex (and of course their parents, Cristi and Shawn too). The kids had a wonderful time playing together for three days and even got to visit Incredible Pizza which they all loved! They rode rides, played games, went bowling, and the boys got to race go-carts while Bria cheered them on.

We had many other special events this month, one of which was a family visit to the zoo. We were able to see a snake feeding which none of us had seen before. Bria was not so impressed as she yelled “Oooh, yucky!” when she saw a huge python eating a rat. Each time we go to our zoo we see different animals. We saw beautiful flamingos this visit and while we were posing in front of them for a picture, one came up behind Bria and pulled on the back of her shirt. She yelled “Hey!” in this sassy little tone as if she were saying how dare you touch my shirt. She is a funny girl!!

Our final highlight of the month was celebrating our first Gotcha Day with Bria’s best friend and crib-mate from China, Maddy, and her parents, Kathy and Mike. They flew into Oklahoma on Wednesday, August 22nd and left yesterday, August 26th. We all had a wonderful time!! We went to the Oklahoma City Zoo, Incredible Pizza, on a boat ride on the Riverwalk downtown, and to a great park. The girls had soooo much fun playing together and they got along amazingly well!! We had a small party for Miss Maddy and Miss Bria to celebrate their special adoption day. They each had one candle to blow out on their cake (the cake had a picture of the girls sitting on the famous red couch at the White Swan Hotel in China). After eating cake, they opened a few gifts, and then we went outside and released four red balloons—one for each of their birthparents to remember them and the magnificent gifts they have given to us. We can never thank them enough for bringing these two special girls into this world, and we can never thank God enough for bringing these two special girls into our families! We are so, so blessed!!

On August 23rd, the day we left for China last year, we received our I-171 which is our approval from the American government to bring home another angel from China—what a great day!! We are now finishing up the last of the paperwork, and our packet should go to China within the next month. We are all very excited!

Our final bit of exciting news, is that we have planned a trip to Disney World with Miss Maddy and her family at the end of September. We will be celebrating Maddy’s second birthday while we are there. This will be the girls’ and Kaden’s first trip to Disney so you can imagine how much fun we are going to have!
