Another great month has flown by…. Our baby is getting so close
to 2 years old—Wow!! We feel like she has been part of our
family forever, but these past 9 months have sure gone quickly.
She has grown and blossomed into such a little princess—truly, a
princess: jewelry, bows, purses, lipstick, painted toenails, she
LOVES the girly things in life (mommy is sooo happy).
We started May by going to a local carnival. Bria is such an
adventurous little one. She wants to ride all the rides, and got
very upset when Kaden was able to ride a few of the bigger rides
that she was too short for. She is so expressive and lets us
know just how much fun she is having. The first time she rode
the cars, she giggled almost the entire ride—so precious!!
The following weekend, we went to our local arts festival with
Bria’s friends Garrett and Connor. They had a children’s area
with pony rides, a clown, and several fun rides. She had a great
time and loved her blue poodle balloon the clown made for her.
Mother’s Day was so very special this year. I am so blessed to
have the most wonderful children in the world. We celebrated the
weekend with my mom, Bria’s GaGa, and we had a relaxing, fun
weekend. It was such a blessing to have our precious sweetie
home for Mother’s Day this year—that was the greatest gift
ever!!
The highlight of our month was a trip to Texas to reunite with
Bria’s best friend from China, Maddy, and her mommy and daddy,
Kathy and Mike. They were “crib-mates” and shared a very special
bond that was evident within the first day that she was with us
in China. While we were in China, we were able to ask the
orphanage director questions. We asked him who Bria slept by and
he said “FuBai” (Maddy). We then asked who was Bria’s closest
friend and he said with a smile of confidence “FuBai.” At that
point, the girls had been with us for a few days, and we knew
before we even asked him that there was something special
between them. They always seemed to search each other out in
playgroups, and they looked for each other when our group was
traveling together. We decided while in China that we would keep
the girls in touch.
We met half way between our house and theirs in Waco, Texas. We
let the girls play and play and play. It felt like we were back
in China again….deciding which hotel room we would meet in for a
play date. We went to Shoguns for dinner—a Japanese steakhouse
where they cook the food in front of you—everyone had a great
time. On Saturday, we went to the local zoo and the girls had so
much fun! They loved watching the animals and had so much fun
feeding the fish. It was an amazing weekend and brought back
those bonds between our families that we will always keep and
cherish. We were so sad to leave, but are already making plans
for another visit in August around our first anniversary of
Gotcha Day.
Bria surprised us about a week ago when she decided she wanted
to begin the adventure of potty training. She asked several
times to sit on the potty and about the 3rd time she actually
went—I was so excited! I figured it was a one time event, but
she continued to ask and perform, so we are in full potty
training mode. The past 2 days she has been accident free while
awake. Unbelievable!!! Everyday, I keep thinking, “is this
really going to be this easy??” I’ll let you know next month the
answer to that question.
We are also getting closer to Bria’s little sister. We had our
final home study visit last night, we have collected all of the
paperwork and are about to send it forward to get permission
from the US to bring home another sweet baby. We should be on
track to submit our paperwork to China in September which is as
soon as China will allow (one year from the time we returned
with Bria). The wait is looking like it will be very long, but
God will help us through just as He did with our precious little
Bria.
