JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2009

Happy New Year! January and February have been fantastic months for our family! We found out in January that the orphanage director in Ghana was going to court on our behalf on February 5th to make our sweet Abree ours Forever! All went well and we were granted the adoption, which officially makes precious Bria a new BIG SISTER!! She is so excited to get her baby sister home!

We celebrated New Years Day by having a “fancy” dinner with Uncle Bud, Aunt Julie and family. We all drank sparkling grape juice in crystal champagne glasses—the kids felt so grown up with their pretty glasses and they all really loved the grape juice.

Our next celebration was Kaden’s 6th birthday party. We celebrated at a huge inflatable party place called Bouncin Craze and we had SO much fun! Kaden and Bria’s sweet friends Aubree, Alex and Tyler came all the way from Arkansas to help us celebrate and to spend the weekend with us. We had a wonderful time!

In late January, we had a beautiful snow and ice storm that we made the best of and played, played, played! Bria had so much fun in the toboggan with Kaden and her cousins Jake, Hayley and Grace. They rode down a BIG hill in our neighborhood over and over again.

When the weather finally warmed up in February, we made our first trip of the year to the zoo. We LOVE the zoo!! Bria was a bit sad because the elephants (still her favorite) were gone while they work on their exhibit. She still had a great time and her favorite animal on this trip was the monkeys.

Later in February, we celebrated Chinese New Year. We celebrated one weekend with a group of families that adopted from China using the same agency as we used. We went to a local Chinese restaurant and had great food and fun! The girls were running all over the room we reserved chasing each other and having a great time.

The following weekend, we celebrated Chinese New Year again with our local Families with Chinese Children (FCC) group. They had fun crafts and entertainment and of course great food! To close the celebration, the kids had a dragon parade where they all got under a long cloth following a leader who was wearing the dragon head. They paraded all around the room and had such a fun time!

We are looking forward to March and April as we get closer and closer to bringing home Bria’s little sister, Abree. We are also very excited about a fun trip to Texas to visit Maddy and Kiana. Little Bria has gotten so big and has started to correct us when we call her “little” or “baby.” She will say, “I’m big, mommy. I’m a BIG sister now.” We know she is going to be a fantastic big sister. She has such a caring heart and a loving spirit. She is a tremendous blessing to our family!

Getting more adorable every day!
