AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2008

August brought a new adventure for our sweet Bria—SCHOOL!! In the spring she attended a few days and loved it so much we enrolled her for this fall. She goes to school on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Her teachers are Ms. Andrena and Ms. Sierra and she LOVES them! They are teaching her letter and number recognition. She knows her colors and shapes very good now. She has lots of friends at school and so far she has not gotten in any trouble at all….

Bria is also a Cubbie in Awana at church on Wednesday nights this year. She learns a memory verse every week. Her teacher is Mrs. Brenda and Bria loves her so much! The Awana director was so impressed with Bria he had her say her verse to the ENTIRE church during Sunday morning service one week. She did great! She said, “God loves us and sent His Son.” Her favorite verse so far is “Love is not rude” which she says as “Lub is not wude.” Very cute!!

On August 15th James had surgery to repair a disc in his back. The kids were so sweet helping care for him while at the hospital and once he was back home. He is doing great and pain free!!

August 27th was our 2nd Adoption Day celebration. What an amazing two years we have had with our precious angel. She has grown so much in so many ways. Her adorable personality has blossomed more and more each day. We cannot imagine life without her—she is our miraculous gift from God!

Over Labor Day weekend we celebrated Bria’s Adoption Day with her special friend and crib mate from China, Maddy. The Quintanilla family came for a visit and we had LOTS of fun! The girls played and played…. While they were here, we went to Frontier City and had a wonderful time playing and riding rides. We set aside Saturday for Bria and Maddy’s own special day of celebration. The day began with a trip to Sweet-n-Sassy—a salon and spa for small princesses. The girls were pampered from head to toe—beautiful hairstyles, make-up, fingernail and toenail polish, a gorgeous princess dress and of course a tiara. They had so much fun and loved playing on the runway afterwards. They were quite the “models.” After our time at the spa, we came home to open presents and eat cake. This year we had special matching rings made for the girls that will be their keepsake “baby” rings. The girls had a wonderful day of celebration!

Later in September we took a trip to Arkansas to meet our newest friend, Baby Aubree. Bria and Kaden had a great time playing with Tyler and Alex and getting to hold Baby Aubree for the first time. What a special trip!

We are looking forward to the coming months. We have been blessed with the opportunity to adopt a little sister for Miss Bria from Ghana, Africa. The process of international adoption in Ghana is fairly new and ever changing. We have seen a picture of the beautiful girl we hope to call our own but due to the laws of the country we are unable to share the pictures until later in the process. She was born in May of 2007 so she and Bria will be just under 2 years apart—perfect! Of course we are ALL very excited! We hope to share more over the coming months.
