Happy Chinese New Year!! We’ve had a great January and early
February! In January we celebrated Kaden’s 5th birthday at a fun
inflatable party place called Pump-It-Up. The kids had so much
fun! Bria’s favorite was the huge slide and the moon bounce. Now
that Kaden is 5, he is very proud and likes to tell everyone his
new age. Bria has decided she wants to be 5 also and tells
people that she is 5 now as well. It drives Kaden crazy!! Since
she’s so much smaller than him, she has found ways of using
words to drive him crazy rather than physically picking on him.
She will go up to him and say “I’m 5, you’re 2” or “I’m taller
than you” (as she looks up at him…). It is quite funny the way
they learn how to push each other’s buttons so young! She is a
firecracker!!
On January 25th we attended Bria’s oldest cousin Emily’s wedding
reception. When they were about to cut the cake, Bria ran up to
the table to get in on the action. She saw lots of pictures
being taken and thought she should surely be in them all. It was
pretty cute, and Cousin Emily handled it very well. She let Bria
take a few pictures with them, which made Bria feel very
special!
In early February, the Quintanilla family came to visit for
Chinese New Year and we had a great, great time!! The girls
began playing the minute we got home from the airport and they
didn’t stop the entire visit. They played dolls, house,
dress-up, cars, trains, and they even got into a little trouble
together with the Tupperware…. We had a wonderful time and were
so sad when they left.
We went to our local Families with Chinese Children Chinese New
Year party on February 16th. We ate great Chinese food, saw lots
of adorable Chinese Children, played games and the kids joined
in the Dragon Parade. We all had a great time! Bria was able to
see Jadyn who is from her same orphanage—they are just a few
months apart in age. It was a special reunion for all of the
girls!
Bria is so very active and verbal—she is carrying on
conversations and is getting funnier by the minute! She knows
most of her colors, can sing the ABC’s and can count to 13
(sometimes she leaves out 4 and 5…). She loves to play with her
dolls, Mr. Potato Head, blocks, trains, and any kind of arts and
crafts. She likes to sing—most of her songs she makes up as she
goes along which is very cute! She has started referring to
herself as “My Baby” because I’m guilty of calling her that
quite often. She will say “My baby is hungry” or “My baby needs
to go potty,” etc. It is very sweet right now as long as she’s
not saying that when she’s 5…. Our love for this precious angel
continues to grow more than words can say—she is a tremendous
blessing to our entire family!!! |
