Saturday, August 11, 2007 Today marks 8 wonderful months with Claire. She is thriving and growing everyday. We just got back from a trip to Ocean Isle Beach, NC. This was Claire’s first trip to the ocean and she loved it. She isn’t scared of water at all and she just ran into the ocean and didn’t care how deep it was. She said the water tasted “Yucky,” but that didn’t stop her from letting the waves crash all around and over her. At the pool she was jumping in and going under. I think we have a little fish on our hands. School starts for our three oldest children on Monday and Claire may be quite lonely. She has grown accustomed to having them here for her every whim. They do tend to cater to her a lot! With the kids in three different schools this year we will be spending quite a bit of time dropping-off and picking-up. She will be very excited when they get in the car each day. She truly adores them. Like most children, Claire really enjoys seeing pictures of herself. While visiting her Nana (whose home is full of pictures of Claire), she found a little room off of the house that had pictures of Nana’s 6 grandchildren before Claire. This isn’t a room that Nana frequents a lot and the pictures were old ones. When Claire went in the room she said, “Chase, Connor, Grant, Ella, Molly, Laura. Where’s Claire’s picture?” She then went into the house and asked Nana who promptly got a picture of Claire and took it outside to the little room. Later while looking at pictures on the coffee table, Claire was studying a wedding photo of the entire family at James’ brother Joe’s wedding. This wedding was in June which was 6 months before Claire came home. Claire once again looked at Nana and said, (somewhat accusingly,) “Where’s Claire?” It was stated that we may have to Photoshop Claire into all family photos! Nana immediately jumped up and got an album full of pictures of Claire to distract her from the ones she was absent from. She definitely has personality to spare!
