Here we are with another month that has flown by. It is amazing how fast time goes when your child is on this side of the ocean! Claire continues to do extremely well. Our 6 month post-placement was a breeze and we were very glad to get to see our social worker, Anne again. Claire had her first 4th of July as an American citizen and unfortunately we had severe thunderstorms all night and didn’t get to see any fireworks at all! We did make up for it 2 days later though and Claire loved them!

Claire loves music and musicals. She will sing along with songs every chance she gets. She has even watched the movie “Oklahoma” from beginning to end. She has a great attention span so we took her and the whole family to see the musical “The Lion King”. She really loved it. We didn’t let her watch the movie ahead of time because we knew that she would sing along with the people on stage and that probably isn’t what the people around us paid to hear! (Even though we think she has a wonderful singing voice!)

Every morning Claire has a ritual of choosing her outfit for the day. Nine times out of ten she wants to wear a dress. She will often con one of her siblings into helping her choose her outfit for the day which can sometimes turn into quite an event. She will often change her mind 2 or 3 times (even after she is dressed) and the bow has to be just right. Don’t even ask about the shoes (that’s a whole ‘nother story). She has a closet full of beautiful shoes, but she wants to wear her flip flops, (aka “white flops”). The reason she tries to get her siblings to help with this process is because Mama gives her two choices and we don’t change clothes once they are on our body. (She never even tries to get me to change her clothes anymore, but she will get her brothers and sisters to do this over and over again!) If I insist on shoes other than the “white flops”, she will say, “OK Mama, white flops later.” So cute and so sweet.

Claire also had her first dental cleaning this month and she did so well. We were pleased that she had no cavities. Of course it could be because she wants to brush her teeth 4-5 times a day! The day after we went to the dentist my niece, Rachel, asked Claire where she had been that day and Claire said, “The white teeth doctor.” I guess we had all talked about how white her teeth were after we left and Claire just assumed that’s what you called him.

Sorry this update was a little late. We had internet failure for a few days this week. We’ll try and be on-time next month!
