Tuesday, December 19, 2006 After breakfast this morning, we hopped in a cab and went to Shamian Island with some of our friends and took our girls’ pictures on the famous “Red Couch” at the White Swan Hotel. After shopping and eating at Lucy’s, we headed back to our hotel for group pictures. Once this was accomplished, we loaded onto the bus for our swearing in ceremony at the U.S. Consulate. We took a break from packing tonight to let Claire take gifts to our wonderful guides, Rosa and Fontana. These two women were a wealth of information and professional in every sense of the word. More importantly, they both played a major role in uniting us with our daughter. Rosa was our guide in Beijing and again in Guangzho. Fontana has been with us since last Sunday, and she feels like a part of our family (she is also the only other person Claire will give hugs to!). Tomorrow we leave for the airport at 6:00 a.m. (5:00 p.m. Tuesday homestead time), and approximately 25 ½ hours later, we’ll be home! What an incredible journey this has been! Next stop…U.S.A!!!
