Friday, December 15, 2006 We are a day late in our post because last night we were flying from Claire’s province, Guizhou, and we are now in Guangzhou in the Guangdong Province. We are here to complete the last phase of our adoption paperwork. On Friday, we had our last breakfast at our hotel, finished some packing and played in the room until check-out time. Our guide, Fontana, met us at 12:15 and we did a little shopping, had lunch, and then we went to the police department to get Claire’s Chinese passport. The director of the orphanage met us there. She cried the entire time. Claire luckily slept the whole time. The director said Claire is only the 4th child from her orphanage to be adopted this year. We have some pictures of Claire and 2 little friends who are also 2 years old. I asked if they were being adopted, and she said they are still waiting. She also said they are healthy. I wanted to go and get them and bring them with us. They are so cute. In one of the pictures you will see a person with a basket on their back. This is something that you see in Claire’s province. These people work all day by offering to carry things for people when they shop and they need help with their things. They carry a load for 2 RMB, which is about 25 cents. On to Guangzhou!
