Apologies for the day lapse in updating our post. We spent the
16th preparing to leave Nanchang for Guangzhou. We enjoyed our
stay in Nanchang, but as you can expect, we’ve been looking
forward to this part of our journey as it really completes the
process and we can truly feel like the process is completing.
We left our hotel around 11am and made our way to the airport.
We said our goodbye’s to Evelyn and Kiki. They are two wonderful
ladies who truly love what they do. They made this part of the
process enjoyable and really took all the guesswork out of it so
that we could focus ourselves almost entirely on our girls.
Our flight went smoothly, and we landed in Guangzhou less than
an hour later. Back to warm days, Yeah!! Guangzhou is beautiful
and the White Swan Hotel is a wonderful place to stay. It’s
right on the Pearl River and is actually on a very small island
called Shamian Island. We checked in and spent that evening just
relaxing and tending to Tucker who is running a bit of a fever
and seems to just need a lot of rest.
The following morning was spent focusing on the US Consulate and
associated Visa paperwork for Grace. We took her to the local
photo shop for her Visa picture and then we met as a group to go
through the remaining paperwork one page at a time. Following
all that, we had the afternoon to relax and shop at all the
little places that are in a 4-5 block radius of the hotel. Silk
dresses for $5 and cute shoes for $3, it’s hard not to get a
little carries away. Tim’s been the shopper of the bunch and is
always willing to got get takeout or water or whatever, and then
comes back with three or four other items that weren’t on the
list!
For all our family and friends in Western Washington, you are in
our prayers as we’ve been seeing the damage and power outages
the recent storms have left. We’ve been able to see short clips
on CNN and what’s on the internet and it doesn’t look good.
Take care,
Tim, Tammy and the gang |
