Friday-Sunday,
December 8-10, 2006
The last few days have been a flurry of events that haven’t
allowed us a good chance to catch up on what’s happening here.
We left Beijing on the 8th and flew directly to Hong Kong where
we met up with our travel group. We landed in the early
afternoon and stepped out to a sunny tropical day with the
temperature right around 78F. What a nice change after freezing
for a couple of days. Our wonderful CCAI guide Patrick, picked
us up and had a bus waiting to take us to the Regal Kowloon
Hotel in downtown Hong Kong. We were able to rest and walk
around the city for the remaining part of the day.
The following day began early as we met up with our travel group
and prepared for a day of sightseeing and shopping. We loaded up
and made our way to Victoria Peak, which was one of the highest
points (around 1,800’) and would have normally given us a
wonderful view of the city had it not been for the hazy day.
What we could see was beautiful as the winter time is the
seasonal time for the local Hong Kong orchid to bloom which just
added to the beauty of the area.
We then made our way to Stanley Market, which is a harbor-side
market selling everything you can dream of, with all prices
negotiable. We came away without breaking the bank. Tucker and
Jonah each got some cool things and of course a few gifts for
Max and Grace.
Time for lunch at a nearby Dim Sum restaurant. The food was
excellent and we were able to spend some time getting to know
our group better. The rest of the afternoon was ours. Tim took
Tucker and Jonah out to walk the streets and find some more good
deals.
We spent that evening watching the Christmas lights and laser
show that they put on every night.
Gotcha Day!!!
The next morning, we’re on our way to get Grace! We flew to
Nanchang and arrived at the Galactic International Hotel (Tuck
and Joe thought that was a pretty cool name!). We learned that
we would get Grace at 6pm. We barely had time for a quick group
meeting and dinner before we went down to one of their
conference rooms for the big moment.
We came out of the elevator and were making our way to the
conference room when we saw nine little precious babies waiting
to go in! We all started crying when we saw them and we actually
had to walk past them and into the room and wait for them to
come in. Andrews was at the top of the list, so in came Jin Hong
Xing, now Grace Jin Andrews. She took our breath away and before
Tim could reach out and take her, we both were crying again. Of
course, Grace followed suit and joined in, but once we got her
into our room and drinking a bottle, she settled right down and
is now attached to Tammy.
As I’m writing, she’s in bed with Tammy sleeping away. God’s
blessing come in all shapes and sizes and we’re blessed with a
cute one tonight.
