Today was spent going through the various required steps to officially complete the China side of the adoption. We began in the morning completing basic paperwork and meeting with the local China Adoption Director to collect our adoption certificate for Grace. We then met with the orphanage director and heard more about the orphanage and foster home that Grace came from. He also gave us about 24 pictures of Grace when she was first found, and of her foster mom and the place she’s called home for the last year.

Early afternoon we made our way to the local notary, which was the final step in the authorization process. It was a lot to pack into one day and Grace and Tammy felt the effects most of all. Grace was a trooper, and lasted through a trip to the local Wal-Mart before falling asleep on Jonah during the trip on the bus back to the hotel.

Grace is adjusting well to us. You can certainly see that she is going through a big grieving process for her foster mom. She’s attached herself to Tammy and to a lesser extent the boys, but will only tolerate Tim for a short periods of time, but we can see that even a day brings little breakthroughs. She smiled for the first time today and has begun saying little words or grunts to make her wishes known. She melts your heart instantly with those big brown eyes and perfect little body.

We’re now in Nanchang for several more days waiting for Grace’s passport before we travel on to our next destination.

Love you all. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.

Tim, Tammy, Tucker, Jonah, Phil, and Grace!!
