Our day began bright and early. The clouds and haze lifted this
morning and we looked forward to a sunny albeit cold day. We
were joined with the Coartney family, Connie, Stacy, Jonathan
and Evan, which made the day all the more enjoyable.
It was a two-hour drive to the Great Wall, which gave us our
first chance to have a look at the countryside outside of
Beijing. We stopped about halfway to walk though and shop at a
Jade factory. It was a great chance to pickup some beautiful
necklaces and charms for us to give to Grace as she grows up.
We loaded up and soon arrived at the wall, and began our climb.
It was a perfect day to climb the wall as you could see for
miles. We made it to Hero Stone (very top) and took a quick
snack break before heading down. From the wall, we went and had
lunch at then made our way to the Ming Tombs. Some of the relics
that have been unearthed were amazing!
Back to Beijing to a local Tea House. We were ushered into a
private Tea Room and were able to sample the six primary teas
that China has. From there we made our way to the Peking Duck
for a traditional duck dinner as well as some other dishes that
will forever remain mysteries to us!
Tomorrow, we’re off to Honk Kong. Bye for now! |
