THE AWAKENING
Hello for the last time from China. Today was an answer to all
our prayers. We got up this morning and went to have breakfast
with a baby girl that knows she is loved. About 15 min after Zoe
awoke this morning she smiled and giggled and that’s how it was
all day until bed tonight.
We went to the U.S. consulate today at 3:00 and we were prepared
for a long wait. Well about 30 min later and we were done! We
now have another American in the Nowlin family. We got her visa
and did the swearing in ceremony and were gone. They did not let
us take cameras into the room; I guess it was because of all the
“top-secret” swearing in and stuff. Anyway we are done with
everything except the plane ride home.
When we returned to the hotel, we went down to eat and along the
way I could have sworn we had Bailey with us. Zoe was laughing
and talking to everybody. Her English vocabulary consists of bye
bye, hello, boat, I low you (I love u), bah bah (that means
daddy), momma, Bailey, and Zach. She has officially broken out
of her shell and is ready for the world. When we got to the
place we had dinner, we had trouble ordering because Zoe would
not stop talking to the staff. They kept asking us how old she
was and saying “she very smart girl”. When she wasn’t talking to
them she was saying bah bah, momma, woe eye nee and I low you to
Chenoa and I. Yes it is me the one finger typist, so I am sorry
my thoughts are so scattered. Chenoa is getting her last minute
bargain shopping in. It is now 10:30pm and Zoe fell asleep about
an hour ago one and a half hours past her bedtime. No it wasn’t
because she was fussing either; we just couldn’t shut the girl
up. She kept on with the laughing and giggling all night. Chenoa
was rocking her to sleep and Zoe just lay in her arms with a
grin from ear to ear. She finally did fall asleep in mommas
arms, but when she put her in bed, boink, her eyes were wide
open and she kept saying bah bah and momma woe eye nee and I low
u. when she did fall asleep again she would wake herself up,
smile and in a very soft voice say bah bah and momma, rub the
soft down comforter on the bed and doze back off. This cycle
happened about three times. I think she wanted to make sure it
wasn’t just a dream and was real. Before we put her to bed
Chenoa put her in some new silk jammies. She could not stop
rubbing them and showing us how soft they were and how pretty
she felt. We wonder if she has ever had soft jammies and a
snuggly bed, ill bet not.
Zoe clearly knows she is loved now. We are convinced that it is
because of all of your prayers for her. I can’t thank u all
enough for them, even the folks we do not know, thank u for our
babies heart. |
