HANGZHOU DAY ONE
Well, hello from Hangzhou!!!! We started out the morning at 4 am
once again so we had plenty of time to pack up our room and head
off to the airport. Checking into the airport went great, but I
forgot that I had stashed 3 bottles of water in Tom’s backpack
so when we went through the security check point guess who got
stopped?!? It wasn’t me but this time I got to laugh at Tom
squirming!! They finally let us go through and I found a
starbucks coffee! Let me tell you a little story, in the cab
ride to the airport Tom fixed my hair in an updo with this cute
little stick I bought. The first time he fixed it he had my hair
twisted so tight I could not even bend my head down so I made
him take it out and try again all the while the cab driver was
watching in the mirror with a little smirk on his face. Tom
assured me it looked good, so while I was in Starbucks I asked
the 2 girls working how my hair looked and tried to explain my
husband tried to fix it—well, once again I was the laughing
stock because they thought that was so funny.
We have decided China Southern Airlines rocks! We were only on a
2 hour flight and we got served a meal and 3 drinks and to top
it off they showed Tom and Jerry cartoons. So needless to say
Tom was in heaven. As we landed in Hangzhou I couldn’t help but
cry tears of joy that we were finally in Zoe’s home town and in
just a short time she would be with us! Immediately we found our
guide and it was such a relief that she was able to speak to us
clearly.
Driving into Hangzhou our guide Sara explained so much to us
about her beautiful home town and some of their customs. As were
turned the corner of our hotel I got my first glimpse of the
West Lake and was speechless!!! It is so hard to put into words
just how beautiful it is!! We took tons of pictures so we will
just have to show ya’ll when we get home. The best thing is our
hotel is directly across the street from the lake and the view
from our window is fabulous!! Thank you Rowdy!
We dumped our bags and hit the road running-so many things to do
at the lake and you know me I want to do them all, now! Of
course Tom wanted to eat first so we hit Mac’s Supper Club! I
can eat easily here; right around my hotel is KFC, Pizza Hut,
Starbucks, Hagen Daus, and a Chinese buffet with pictures! As we
were standing on the sidewalk trying to decide what to do first
Tom said Chenoa you have got to turn around and look! Oh, man I
wanted to dye I was so embarrassed when there was a grown man
relieving himself right next to me! We decided to walk the
boardwalk which goes around the entire lake, but let me remind
you there are thousands of people here right now for today is
the official Moon Day! About half way around the lake we heard
tons of screaming and right there before our very eyes was a man
and woman really fighting and the police just stood there
watching along with 100 other people. Now let me tell you some
good also which far outweighs the bad! As we strolled along
there were just families everywhere having picnics, flying
kites, riding bikes, playing cards, laughing together and guess
what-not one game boy or PSP-they were truly having fun as a
family enjoying each other! We sat on a bench and watched people
and took in the beauty of God’s creation! We made it about ¾
around the lake and decided to turn around and head to the hotel
because we were pooped and hungry!
As I sit here and write I can still hear all of the people
outside celebrating there Moon Festival and they are so excited.
Sara told us today that families get together and sit outside to
look at the moon for it brings them good luck! Our good luck
comes from above also, right from our Loving Heavenly Father
whom holds each one of our futures in the palm of His hand! |
