ZOE DAY!!!!
Well, today started out with so much anticipation we were sick
to our stomachs. We met our guide in the lobby at 9:15 am and
she took us to the civil affairs office. The entire way there
she kept telling us we would probably have to wait because the
orphanage was always late bringing the kids. So we slowly
climbed 6 flights of stairs and when we turned the corner Sara
said “Oh they are early, they already here!” So there was no
time to get our camera ready. I could see the nanny showing Zoe
our photo album of our family that we had sent to her. Zoe
looked up at me and Tom and they told her “MaMA” and “BaBa” and
she just sat on the chair with big alligator tears rolling down
her little cheeks. Tom lost it immediately. She looked so pretty
we could tell that they tried hard to make her look good for us.
She had on a little denim dress, white tights with lace, newer
shoes and a little clip in her hair. I bent down to talk to her
and give her a sucker and her little doll and she screamed like
she had a knife stabbing her in her back. About that time the
nanny’s handed her to me and walked off and swept Tom away to do
paperwork. I tried everything to comfort her but I can only
imagine the hurt her little heart must be feeling. She was
terrified and shaking. She kept reaching for her nanny’s but
they said no that’s your MaMa.
When Tom finished his paperwork it was my turn so I had to hand
Zoe off. She continued to scream for awhile, but before you know
it BaBa charmed her with his tenderness and she was as content
as can be expected. Safe in her daddy’s arms is where she wanted
to stay all day! If I came around her or even went close to Tom
she had a cow!
After we finished all the paperwork we went to lunch and Sara
tried to get Zoe to eat everything on the buffet, but she would
have none of that! I don’t really blame her I only ate the
watermelon! After the buffet we went to the hotel to let her nap
because she was falling asleep in the restaurant. Got to the
room and Tom put her on the potty and she went so I did a little
cheer and she gave me the death look! She crashed hard and we
felt bad waking her up, but Sara told us to bathe her and be
back in the lobby by 3pm. Tom forgot to put her on the potty
again so as soon as she got in the tub she let it go. So I
drained the tub and started over! This was her first bath and I
don’t really think she enjoyed the awesome tub she was in. Poor
girl sat in the tub and shook terribly! I quickly washed her up
and of course checked out her scar, fingers, toes, you name it I
checked it our. Let me add, she definitely does not have a Van
Cleave butt! She is so skinny I don’t even think you could
classify it a butt! I scooped her out of the tub and wrapped her
tight to warm and snuggle her and she let me!!!!! I just cried!!
Quickly threw on her new outfit from her Big Sister and we were
off!! And it was a good thing I enjoyed the snuggle time because
she was back to not liking me around!
We went to the civil affairs again and got our official
paperwork that says she is a Nowlin!!!! Then we quickly rushed
over to the police dept to apply for her Visa. Next Sara took us
to buy a cheep stroller because Tom’s arm was about to fall off.
She is a little peanut but all dead weight!
Back at the hotel we decided to break her in right and we hit Mc
Donald’s, but once again she would not eat anything! She does
love riding in the stroller and asked Tom to put her back in
after dinner. We took advantage of the beautiful night and
walked up the boardwalk all the while Zoe was taking everything
in. People would just walk past us and stare and 3 ladies
stopped us and asked if she came from my belly. According to
Sara, the Chinese do not understand why we want so many kids.
They only want one because she said they are too expensive. |

At bedtime Tom walked out of the
room and I got to rock her to sleep and lay with her on my
chest. As I felt her little heart beating against mine I just
thanked God that her created this sweet little girl and that her
has trusted Tom and I to love her the way He intends each child
to be loved! Thank you so much for all your prayers and
support!!
Zach and Bay we can’t wait for you to meet Zoe! I am sure she
will love both of you as soon as she sees you. She is a lucky
little girl to have both of you as her brother and sister! We
love and miss you guys so much!! I love seeing you on the
computer! Only a short time now and we will be home-hang in
there you are doing great!! XXOOXOXOO |
