MAKING PROGRESS!!
Zoe woke up this morning at 4:30 AM very hungry. I was so
excited she finally took two bottles of milk from me. I was
going to get up and Tom said “Umm I don’t think this is a good
idea” so we layed back down and Zoe fell back to sleep until
7:00 AM. Her pull up was totally dry! We were shocked! Then I
had one of my bright ideas and thought I would just put her in
the shower with me. Needless to say she was not a happy camper!
The water totally scared her and she started her shaking dance
again. I snuggled her close and washed her as quick as possible
and passed her off to dad.
Tom called Zach and Bay on the computer so they could talk to
her and she just stared right at Bay the whole time. She is the
first person that Zoe looked at in the face! We are just dying
to get her home to meet her brother and sister!! Then it was off
for our boat cruise on the West Lake! As we were leaving the
room Zoe made it very clear she wanted her stroller! She
absolutely loves riding in the stroller checking out everything!
On the boat we got a lot of questions and everyone wanted to
take pictures of Zoe! Well, she wasn’t having any of that! She
had the death grip on Daddy! The ride around the lake was
breathtaking, have I told you how beautiful it is here?? After
the ride we strolled through one of the famous gardens and once
again it was fabulous! When our driver came to pick us up, Zoe
let me hold her in the van and she even snuggled in. I ate up
every minute of it!
Sara took us to the most famous restaurant in Hangzhou-but of
course I forgot the name of it. I had the best meal since I left
Nebraska!!! We started out with Lady Song Soup(Fish soup), Fried
Ring Bell (Bean Curd Skin), Shrimp Fried Rice and Beggars
Chicken(Chicken wrapped in banana leaves) topped off with fresh
squeezed watermelon juice! Tom enjoyed the juice so much he had
a juice mustache. The best part is Tom was able to feed Zoe off
his plate!!! She ate and it was so cute to see her little mouth
open like a little bird waiting for a worm!!
On the walk back to the hotel Zoe fell asleep in her stroller so
we wanted to hurry back to get her nap in! No such luck with dry
panties after the nap. She even gave us a little extra bonus in
her panties and she was so scared when I took her into the
bathroom to clean her up! It makes us wonder if she got in
trouble for having accidents. We got her all cleaned up and
decided to just hang out in the room and see if she would play!
The little cell phone we brought for her has not left her hands
the entire day and when we offer her a different toy it is like
she thinks she has to choose one thing only. We can see her
little eyes checking out everything we put out but she doesn’t
want us to see her looking at it! Tom and I played with a beach
ball and she wanted so bad to play with us but would not let her
phone down!
We headed down to Starbucks for dinner and to see our little
friend we made. She took one look at Zoe and said she is so sad
but don’t worry-soon she will know that you love her so much! As
we sat outside and enjoyed the sunset Zoe let me feed her and
give her a drink but never once looked at me! Back to the room
for more play time and one more little surprise in her panties!
We decided to just let her wear pull ups for now. She is already
having enough stress why make one more thing difficult for her?
Once in her jimmies she let me hold her on my lap and she was so
intrigued with the Baby Einstein movie we brought for her. I
tried to have her lay back but she cried so I didn’t push it but
as time passed slowly she layed back inch by inch and before I
knew it she was laying on my chest!! All the while daddy was
snapping the camera!
Well, tomorrow is our trip to the orphanage and we are excited
but nervous to go! We are expecting the worst but praying for
the best! Maybe this will be the closure she needs to start the
healing process! Zoe gets calm when I sing Jesus loves you in
her ear so maybe tomorrow between me singing and Daddy’s safe
arms she will do okay!
Zach and Bay we are getting closer to coming home and we
can’t wait! Thanks Bay for the note you left us it made Momma
cry! Hang in there and before you know it Zach you will be
shooting Daddy with paintballs! You two Rock! We love and miss
you so much!! |

Psalms 34:4-8
I sought the Lord; and he answered me; he delivered me
from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant;
their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man
called and the Lord heard him, He saved him out of all his
troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who
fear Him, and He delivers them. Taste and see that the
Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.
