Well, it is finally summer! Since our last update everyone has
finished school and everyone has been pretty busy. Caroline is
doing so well. She had her final visit with Dr. Lee and is
officially perfectly healthy and on track in all areas. She can
now perform all the tasks for Dr. Lee that she was unable to
perform upon arriving home from China and her vocabulary is
increasing everyday. She amazes us each day with all she is
learning and she makes us smile because she is the happiest
little girl with an adorable personality.
Caroline has had more time to play with her brother and sisters
now that school is out. She builds tall towers with her building
blocks and then points at them and exclaims, “Wow!”. She LOVES
to play ball and she is really very good at catching it. She has
also been spending a lot of time in the pool- she definitely is
a water baby. But Caroline’s most favorite game to play is tea
party. She has a couple of little tea sets and she will pour and
serve us tea. When she pretends to drink tea she says “blub,
blub,..” to make the sound of drinking it and sometimes says
“hot” and blows on it for you. She also makes plates of food and
serves them to different members of the family. She feeds her
dogs too. Every night she watches Alison and Mommy preparing the
dogs’ dinner, so one day she took out a packet of their food,
put it in a bowl, and called them over. Spunky was too tired to
get up, so Caroline brought it to her and patted her on the
head. Caroline really loves her dogs and she takes very good
care of them.
On June 29th we celebrated Caroline’s second birthday. She had a
party during the day with her friends. It was a Strawberry
Shortcake theme. They played “pass Strawberry Shortcake”, “pin
the tail on Pupcake”, swam in the pool, and munched on donuts,
ice pops, and lollies. They even wore Strawberry Shortcake hats-
that were scented! That night we celebrated with the big kids.
Some of her favorite presents include a supermarket cart (just
her size), a pink tricycle, food for her kitchen, lots of
puzzles and books, some summer clothes, sunglasses (she is
beginning to have quite the collection), a Kai-Lan tree house
and accessories, a little tikes airport, her very first jewelry
box that sings when she opens it, and of course a painted tea
set! It was a wonderful day and Caroline really enjoyed herself.
Over fourth of July weekend we went to Peddler’s Village for
some relaxing and shopping. Caroline did very well in the car-
some sleeping, some watching Barney. When we got there she
explored the room and then we went to ride the carousel. This
was her first ride. At first she was apprehensive, but seemed to
like the ride at the end. Then we went to the toy store where
Caroline found lots of great things to bring home. There were a
lot of festivities for the holiday and Caroline enjoyed every
minute of it. After room service and watching the fireworks out
the hotel room window, Caroline decided that she could get used
to being on vacation. The next day Caroline had another first
experience- antiquing with Mommy and her sisters. Daddy and Ryan
slept in and enjoyed breakfast at the hotel. Then we went for
ice cream and some more shopping. Caroline enjoyed running
around the cobblestone walkways of the village and looking at
the fish in the pond. At night she slept like a little rock
because of the very busy days. It really was a great vacation.
These past few weeks have been filled with wonderful memories
for us. From her first time in the pool, to her second birthday,
and first vacation, we are so very lucky to spend this time with
our little girl. Caroline Mei is truly blossoming into a
wonderful little person. It is hard to put into words the joy
that she has brought us. She is close to her family, she has the
sweetest personality, she has a kind and loving heart, and she
is the light of her family! |
