Well, Ellen had a long night. She was coughing so much that she was tossing and turning all night. She is a sick little baby. They put her on several medications today in hopes of catching it before she gets worse. She was really attached to me today, not wanting anyone else to hold her much. Occasionally the kids got her giggling and being more playful, but most of the day was spent in the hotel room.

We finished all of our paperwork in preparation for our appointment at the embassy in a couple of days. We had documents coming out of our ears and were so glad to be finished with it!! Our friend Darla joked that all the paperwork is probably part of China's adoption process. If you can figure it all out, then you're qualified to have a baby...

Although we are looking forward to going to Guangzhou tomorrow, we will miss Hunan province. We have had a wonderful week here-one that we will not forget. Ellen was born here, this is where her life began, and we will always have a special place in our heart for the Yiyang Children's Welfare Institute who took such good care of her.

As I held Ellen in my arms tonight I looked at her in wonder. Her round little face, her black silky hair, her cute button nose, her soft pink lips and her beautiful almond eyes. I am in awe of this precious baby. I am in love. You know how good it feels to hold a baby that hugs you back? That is what Ellen does every time I pick her up. She just loves to be held, she loves to be loved. She snuggles in my arms when I sing to her before she takes a nap. Needless to say, I take my time putting her to bed.

We are so happy that Ellen hasn't had any problems going to Jason. Some babies have a harder time bonding with men, but Ellen already loves her daddy very much. I think it's because Jason fed her her very first ice
cream!

I can hardly believe that we've had Ellen one week already. Time really flies when you're having fun. Thank you again for all the supportive comments, we enjoy reading them every day! I'm off to bed as we're heading to the airport at 5:30am. Love to all!
