Our Story

"The journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step." ~Lao-Tzu

Jason and I have been married nearly 12 years. We have been blessed with a strong marriage and 3 wonderful children, Connor-9, Tara-7 and Spencer-4. I love my role as a stay-at-home mom and Jason is self-employed as a mortgage broker.

So where does adoption come in? After I gave birth to Spencer we had 3 kids under 4 years and felt content with our family. Well, a couple of years later, Jason and I began discussing the possibility of having one more child. As we talked and prayed about it we were led in a direction I never thought possible. We were drawn to international adoption and looked into several different countries. Yet, as we learned more about the hundreds of thousands of babies that were orphaned in China every year, our hearts were drawn to this country. Soon there was no doubt in our minds that our daughter was in China. And as unfamiliar as adoption seemed, we knew it was the right choice for our family.

100 Good Wishes Quilt

To welcome and celebrate a new life, there is a tradition in the northern part of China to make a Bai Jia Bei, or "100 Good Wishes Quilt." It is a custom to invite 100 people to contribute a single square patch of cloth. The 100 patches are sewn together into a quilt that contains the luck, energy, and good wishes from all the families and friends who contributed a piece of fabric. The quilt is then passed down from generation to generation.
