This morning I wasn't feeling 100% so I stayed in the
hotel with Ellen
while the rest of the gang visited a museum in town. Ellen was
not her
usual self and cried and fussed all morning. She did not have a
fever
and ate a big breakfast so I couldn't figure out what was wrong.
Normally she snuggles up to me, but not today. I started
thinking that
things are finally settling in for her and maybe she is just now
showing
signs of frustration (which would be totally normal). I just
felt badly
for her and was finally able to get her to take a short nap.
Unfortunately, it all continued right when she woke up.
Then something interesting happened. As soon as Jason and the
kids
came back Ellen was as happy as can be. She was smiling,
giggling,
snuggling and just back to herself. It turns our she just missed
her
siblings. I had to laugh at myself because all morning she kept
looking
around the room and I couldn't figure out what she was looking
for. I guess
she just likes all the action with the kids around, and although
peace
and quiet is nice for mom, she likes the chaos better! The rest
of the
day she was great!
We stayed around the hotel today aside from Jason getting his
own
chinese massage. The kids went bowling again with Gramma and
Babop and I
took a nap with Ellen. We are trying to be adventurous eaters
while we
are here and today Connor ate some spicy snake (he even had
seconds)!
Tara loves snails, Babop tried the duck tongue, Gramma had frog
legs,
but Spencer is sticking to cheese pizza!
I am happy to report we are not having any more bickering over
who gets
to push Ellen's stroller or sit by Ellen, etc. The solution:
Jason
made a chart. Yes, for each meal the little paper in his pocket
reminds
everyone whose turn it is to push her there, sit next to her,
and push
her back...the things we do to keep the peace!
One thing is for sure, Ellen is loved! We are so blessed to have
her
in our family! Thank you for those who've shared comments with
us.
It's so nice to know you are sharing this wonderful experience
with
us-much love to all!
