Waiting for Referral

December 2006 Neil wisely took a vacation day on Friday, December 1. Michelle and her mom were somehow able to complete a sewing project for Chloe’s room, and Neil managed to get the video camera set up to film the referral call. We were told that our call would come between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. However, the morning was still nerve-racking because we expected that the call could arrive sooner. The other local adoptive families called us, they too wondering when their call was coming. Later, they sent us emails saying that they had received their calls while we still hadn’t received ours! Finally, at 3:15 p.m., the CCAI Tallahassee office called to introduce us to Nan Jun Li, and they emailed her photo shortly thereafter. We were overjoyed to see her picture because she was so beautiful and because, somehow, she really looked like a blend of our two faces. God answered our prayers, and to us, our 11 month old precious daughter was finally born.
