November 2006
By November, we finally knew that our long-anticipated referral
was just around the corner. We did a little babysitting, drove
our new mini van, and worked on our home. We participated in the
Race for the Cure in St. Pete, which we have done every year
since moving to Florida in 2001.
We attended CCAI’s Florida reunion in Orlando, and made many new
friends. We met Treena and Kip; Nicole and Drew; Theresa and
Brad; and Esperanza, Edgardo, and their daughter Eliana. We also
enjoyed seeing CCAI’s founders, Lilly and Josh, who are an
amazing couple.
We successfully kept ourselves busy during our wait, but it is
our friends and family who helped us the most. We are so
grateful to have spent time with other families in St. Pete who
either already have Chinese daughters or are going through the
process with us.
This group includes Jen, Ken and their daughter Sophie; Cindy,
Tom and their daughter Eleni; Mary, Tim and their daughter Winn;
Lisa and her daughter Meghan; and Alison, John and their
daughter Madeline. The decision to adopt from China gave us the
opportunity to meet these wonderful people with whom we will
have a bond for many years to come. |
