We have not had much down time; it has been all go! Today we
went to tour the Great Wall of China. It was amazing - and
steep! The weather is hot and sticky, and the air is still bad.
There were a lot of festivals going on there as well as children
holding up banners and Chinese flags all along the wall. The
banners were painted by the children and dealt with the Beijing
Olympics 2008.
We then went to see how they made Cloisonne at Friendship Store.
It was so neat to see how it was made. Such intricate and
painstaking work. It really made you appreciate the beautiful
pieces more. We also ate above the store, and yes, Sheila, I
actually ate the food! Ha! We also went to Hutong Lane. The
street vendors were relentless, to say the least. Sean kept
telling me to stop smiling when I said no so that they would
leave us alone. That didn’t help. We rode a rickshaw and went to
tour a local house and family. We are exhausted. My lower back
is hurting a lot and is also giving me terrible pain down my
leg. I think it is from all of the sitting in the airplane and
buses combined with all of the hiking on the Great Wall. We are
doing more touring tomorrow, so we are off to bed!
Ashton and Kieron,
We are so glad that you all are having a good time with MawMaw
and PawPaw. We sure do miss seeing your beautiful faces
everyday! You both would have really enjoyed riding the bicycle
driven rickshaw today. It was fun. Ashton, we got to eat some
different foods today! I wish you could have been there. Kieron,
you wouldn’t have eaten a thing! The Great Wall was so big! Our
feet and legs were so tired. We got you both a t-shirt from
there! We cannot wait until we see you again! Be good and listen
to Miss Tricia today at the pool! (Tricia, thank you for taking
them, and for more! You know what I mean!) We love and miss you
both!

The Great Wall
You can see the banners and flags
the children are holding. It was crowded.
