Farewell
to China…
December 6, 2005
Well, tomorrow we leave. I cried a little today to think
that we are
leaving our child's birth country. Kevin cried a little
today
because he is leaving the giant breakfast buffet and the
land of $15
massages. JacJac didn't cry at all. She just seems to get
happier
as the days go by.
We did go to the U.S. Consulate today and the swearing in
part was on
JacJac's behalf. We swore that all information that had
been
provided was true and correct. Then they issued us her
Visa. So as
soon as she goes through Immigration in Detroit, she will
officially
be an American citizen! We can't wait!! Unfortunately,
they don't
allow cameras inside the Consulate, so sorry, no pictures of
the
swearing in ceremony.
We've spent almost the whole day packing and spending the
very last
bits of our money. I thought I could fit everything we've
bought
into our suitcases, but I was wrong (really Cheryl, it was
your two
dresses that put us over the edge, why'd you ask me to buy
so much?!?
Ha, ha). So I had to go out and buy one of the infamous $9
suitcases
here. We'll wrap it with duck tape at the airport and hope
for the
best.
We have to catch the shuttle to the airport tomorrow at
5:45am for
the beginning of our 26 hour trip home, so I guess I better
sign off
now. But we look forward to seeing everyone soon. We'll
also be
updating this site on the first day of the month for the
next six
months, so you're welcome to check in on how little JacJac
is doing.
Once again, thank you all so much for your prayers and
emails
throughout this journey. The fact that we've all stayed
healthy,
both physically and emotionally is truly a testimony of what
God can
do!
Much love,
Kevin & Janie
