February Update

February was another exciting month in the Crouch household. Kevin went out of town for five days in the middle of the month, leaving Janie alone with the three kids for the first time. He said it was a business trip, but we all thought that a business trip to the Bahamas was a bit suspicious! Just kidding, he was really headed to Boston. Janie and the kids did pretty well without Kevin, but JacJac was a bit more cranky than usual. Who knows what was going on in her little mind… She might have been afraid that Kevin had left for good like so many people in her life had. But she perked right up when Kevin got home! And Janie got her revenge on Kevin by leaving him with all three kids the next weekend while she went scrapbooking.

We knew it had to happen sometime, and JacJac got some sort of stomach bug towards the end of February. It really hit her hard! She was vomiting almost uncontrollably and had terrible diarrhea. It got so bad on the first night that we were afraid she was becoming dehydrated. A call to the doctor had us going in to the emergency room around 11:00pm. They didn’t have to give her an IV, thank goodness, and they were able to give her some medicine to stop the vomiting. The next day she was able to keep a little more on her stomach, but began to run a fever of 103. So back to the doctor we went. They told us to keep her as comfortable as possible with Tylenol and cool baths. She spent the next two days laying around sleeping most of the day and night. It was soooooo pitiful. But finally on the fourth day she perked up and started feeling much better after that. We were very relieved.

Otherwise everything has been pretty normal. JacJac will now come to Mommy or Daddy interchangeably. Logan continues to bother her in any way he can. She is learning to say more and more. Presently she can say, “Mama, Dada, shoes, nose, ears, bird, juice, bye-bye, uh-oh, no,” and the ever popular “mine.” She calls Bekah “Jie-Jie” (pronounced “gee-gee”) which is Chinese for big sister! We try to get her to call Logan by his name or “GeGe” (pronounced “guh-guh”) but she won’t call him anything. I guess she’s waiting until she can say, “that guy who annoys me all the time”. Ha, ha.

March will be an exciting month for us. JacJac’s corrective lip surgery is scheduled for March 22nd. We appreciate your prayers on that day and are very thankful that Janie’s Mom (Mimi) is coming to help out (AKA – hold JacJac as much as possible as she recuperates). We are also heading to Williamsburg over spring break to go to some theme parks. So it should be lots of fun!
