December Update

Well, we have been home with JacJac now for three weeks.  It was a bit hairy at first – jetlag really got the best of all three of us for a few days.  JacJac wanted to sleep most of the day and stay up all night.  But unfortunately, we also had two other young children who wanted to do the opposite.  Janie’s mom (Mimi) was there for the first few days and that really helped, but once she left we had to take some drastic measures to get everyone on the same schedule.  We forced poor JacJac to stay up all day after she had been up most of the night before.  But, thank God, that seemed to do the trick and she started sleeping at night and staying up during the day after that.

One of our biggest concerns in the whole adoption process was how Bekah and Logan would adjust to having a little sister.  Well, I would like to announce that they are doing great!  Logan loves his baby sister “Yak Yak” and Bekah is like a second mother to her.  The biggest problem we have is that they both want to hug and hold her all the time.  But JacJac is learning to fend them off…  And they love to play with each other.  Every time I hear three little giggles I am reminded that God knew what he was doing when he picked JacJac for our family.

But it hasn’t all be smiles and giggles…  It’s exhausting having three children under the age of six in the house!  We had forgotten how much work is involved in having an 18-month-old around.  But we are gradually getting into a schedule and working out problems as they come.

Since I know you all want to know, JacJac continues to be a Daddy’s girl.  Although she has gotten a little better and will go to Janie every so often, Kevin is still the parent of choice.  But Janie was delighted when on New Year’s Eve she received her first kiss from JacJac.  What a great way to end the year!

We spent Christmas down in Georgia.  We were a little concerned about how JacJac would do meeting the entire Davis clan (all 32 of them), but she did great!!  She particularly loved Janie’s grandmother (Mamaw) and would go to her even over Kevin!  Mamaw thought that was the most wonderful thing ever and so has a special place in her heart for JacJac!

Look for our next update at the end of January!
