What a wonderful night! Last
night Bria slept from 10:00pm to 6:00am—we were so happy! We
went to breakfast this morning and she was eating everything.
She loved the watermelon! After breakfast, we went to sign some
paperwork that made her officially ours forever!
We then went to
the Civil Affairs office to get Bria’s Chinese Birth Certificate
and finalize all the paperwork to complete the China portion of
the adoption. They also took her fingerprints to complete her
passport. The best part of the day was having the opportunity to
speak with the orphanage director about Bria. He was very close
to her and all of the other babies. It was obvious that they
knew him right away. He held each one of them and kissed them,
and he seemed truly sad to see them go but happy to help them
find a family. Each one of us asked who our child’s best friend
was, and he said that Bria’s best friend was Fu Ba (Maddy). We
were almost sure of this because of the way the two of them
interact and seem so close. Each baby had her own crib at their
orphanage (which is unusual—usually there are two per crib) and
she was next to Maddy, Jade and Sophie. All of these girls are
in our adoption travel group, so they all were able to leave
together. Before we left, we asked the director to write a
little note to Bria and he did. We are not sure what it says,
but we will have our guide translate it, and we will let you
know. That will be a precious keepsake forever! What a great
day! By the way, he did say that Bria had the most hair in the
whole orphanage!
She has warmed up to us so quickly. She whimpers when either
James or I walk out of her sight—it is precious! She has a
wonderful personality—she smiles a lot and is such a sweet,
affectionate baby! We are so BLESSED!!
Thank you all so much for your comments—you make us cry each
time we read them! |
