We had an interesting day.
First, Miyah woke up with some funky rash all over her lower
legs. I know people must thing I’m psychotic by now what with
the ear infection, cold, teething, constipation, etc. but she
definitely had raised bumps all over her legs – made worse by
her scratching them until she bled (a little).
Fast forward two hours . . . to Miyah’s physical – which she
must pass, by the way, in order for us to get her Visa tomorrow.
Needless to say, I was a little nervous. We had three different
doctors – all talking amongst themselves in Chinese – trying to
decide what was wrong. They ultimately decided that it was an
allergic reaction to something. The amoxicillin I’ve been giving
her for her ear infection (which they confirmed she had, by the
way) was most likely the culprit. Not contagious. WE PASS!!! WE
CAN GO HOME ON WEDNESDAY!!!
Not so fast.
We then find out that there has been some sort of scheduling
discrepancy (not enough time allotted by those in charge of
itinerary). They don’t think they’ll be able to get the medicals
for all children in our group reviewed in time for our consulate
appointment this afternoon!! (Our guides attend this on our
behalf – we don’t have to go – just be available for
questions!). To make a long story short, we had the medicals
“expedited” and were granted permission to take the girls home!!
Tomorrow at 2:45 is the swearing-in ceremony where we will take
the oath (on behalf of our Miyah) to make our sweet girl a US
citizen (once her little feet touch ground on US soil at Detroit
Metro).
Later in the evening we went on a group dinner cruise of the
Pearl River. The river just outside our hotel (it’s on an
island). The food was not my favorite, but the views were
spectacular. Each of the hotels along the river are lit up and
there is a laser light show. The whole thing (a one and a half
hour cruise) puts anything Vegas has to offer to shame (although
I DO STILL LOVE Las Vegas!!).
Anywhoo, about ½ way through our beautiful dinner cruise, my
sweet little girl started to get a “little fussy”. By the time
we got on the charter bus to come home, she was in full-blown,
knock-down, drag-out meltdown mode. Poor little thing was
over-tired, over-stimulated, sick, and still grieving somewhat
(sleep is ROUGH for her). Anyway, she’s sleeping like an angel
right now. Keep your fingers crossed that she makes it through
the night. She’s so good most of the time, I have to remind
myself what she’s been through. She’s a pretty tough cookie,
though. Tomorrow morning (at, ahem, 5:00 a.m.) she’ll most
likely wake up happy.
Anyway, that was our day. I hope yours was good. I’ve been
counting down wrong, today is actually T-minus 2 days and
counting!!!
SEE YOU ALL SOON!!! |
