We had another busy but really good day!
We started by getting up really early again. Even though our
flight out wasn’t until tonight, we had to have our bags packed
and loaded on the bus by 9:30 a.m.,
so we ate an early breakfast and were ready to go!
Our first stop today was to a jade “factory”. This, like most
other “factories” that we are invited to tour (such as the pearl
“factory”) is actually a really nice place where they give you a
short lesson, followed by an even shorter tour. After the tour
is completed, you end up in a gigantic showroom with very many
representatives eager to serve you!!! It would appear that we
will leave more than a piece of our hearts in China. We are
leaving a little bit of us in all of these “factory” tours.
After the “factory” tour, we got back on the bus and went for a
traditional Chinese lunch – surprising, I know. Today’s lunch
was really great, though. Even the kids filled up! This was in a
more local restaurant (not so touristy) so we were a little
skeptical, but it was great!
After lunch, we made the 1 ˝ hour trek to the Great Wall.
Carrigan and DJ got pretty ticked that David and I didn’t make
it to the top (eh, not even close!) and made them turn around
and come down with us. Everyone talks about how steep it is, how
deep the steps are, etc. but we weren’t prepared for the
bottlenecking as the stairs narrow. We were both more than a
little claustrophic. This combined with our heart palpitations
led us to think that it would be best if we lived to see
tomorrow and meet Miyah!!!
After the wall we went and got a much needed foot massage on the
way to the airport!
Signing off now from the airport – it’s 9 p.m. and we our
boarding the plane to Nanchang!
UPDATE
It’s 1:20 a.m. and we just got settled into the hotel. We found
out we will meet the girls at 10:30 a.m.!!!! Got to try to get
some sleep now!!
Next update will be Gotcha Day!!!
