We were surprised
and thrilled to receive Miyah’s referral on Friday, August 25,
2006.
We were called by Adoption Associates at 10:15 that morning. I
answered the phone and Carrigan sat next to me as I took down
all the information. David was at work and D.J. was, of course,
still asleep as it wasn’t quite noon yet! I called David at work
and he headed straight home. We had previously agreed that we
would look at her picture for the first time together as a
family.
This is a little of her information:
Miyah’s given name is Feng Yu Zhu, which means “Rain Pearl”. She
was born on November 10, 2005, was brought over to our orphanage
on November 11, 2005. There was a note found with her indicating
her date of birth.
We were thrilled to find out that Miyah has been in foster care
since she was two days old. We are so grateful to her foster
mother for caring for her everyday. We hope to be able to meet
her and try to convey our thanks in person.
All of Miyah’s medical information as well as her pictures are
from April 28th when she was only 5 ½ months old. At that time,
she was approximately 13 pounds and 24 inches long (according to
my metric conversion charts). We are hoping to get updates as
she is now almost 10 months old.
As of April 28th, Miyah could roll from her back to her stomach.
She is said to have a ready smile and when she is happy she
laughs hard. She likes sweet things (she’ll fit right in!), but
doesn’t eat hot stuff. She gets up at 6:00am, naps between
10:00to 11:00. She goes to bed at 6:30pm. If she wants to sleep,
she will scratch her eyes and responds with “en, en” sounds and
then will fall to sleep by herself. She sucks her thumb to go to
sleep. She needs to sleep in a quiet place and is a light
sleeper (YIKES!!). She sleeps on her back, with lights on, and
in her own crib. She wakes up at midnight and needs to be
changed and given some water. She likes to have a bath, but will
cry a little bit when first put her into water. She will become
very happy later on and play with water with her both hands.
She
is very cheerful and likes music and plays toys. She smiles a
lot. She is very quick to respond. Sometimes she can be very
stubborn (YIKES AGAIN!!!). She likes to talk to her foster
mother (another talker!! How will she get a word in edgewise
around here? She is going to have to talk loud and fast like her
mom and brother).
Her favorite toy is a red color rattle. We hope that she will
also like the blanket, toy phone and photo album (with pictures
of Mom, Dad, Carrigan, D.J. and Muffin) that we sent to her in a
care package. |
We cannot wait to travel to China (hopefully in late October) to
finally meet her, hold her and bring her home!!!
