Today was a big day! We had our American Consulate appointment
and oath taking ceremony. We now wait for the final visa to
arrive tomorrow allowing Libby to travel back with us. The
minute we touch down in Detroit, she is an American citizen. We
cannot believe this 7 year journey is 2 days away from touchdown
in our home city and finally complete.
There were no cameras allowed at The Consulate so no pictures
commemorating the event. Boo Hoo! It was really touching to be
with all of the other families we have been journeying with to
see their adoptions completed too. I believe we have made some
friends for life.
I went back to Shamian Island without the troops to complete
some shopping. That was a nice and welcome break for a couple
hours. Unfortunately, when I got back, I realized I left one of
my bags in a store! Oops! We all went back and found it. If we
didn't, I wouldn't have gotten the beautiful picture of a
traditional Chinese woman. I am so glad I did.
The evening was very chill! We played with Libby (and captured
the best picture of her personality--see pictures), ordered some
pizza, and put Libby to bed. We all played on some sort of
technical device until sleepy. Besides being in a 400 sq. foot
hotel room, I'd say we're settling into normal nicely! |
