It's kind of weird to write about the last couple of days of a
very long journey. This entry is somewhat reflective as I lay in
the comfort of my own bed, jet lagged with a little person
cooing in the background. It's 4:45 am and parenthood of an
infant has quickly been reengaged.
To say I'm grateful is an understatement. I am more in awe. I am
in awe of God first and foremost. Without Him, we would have
nothing. Our faith is strong, our hearts our full, and we know
our job is to love others, plain and simple. Thank you for
blessing us with our marriage, our Brynn and our Libby.
I'm in awe of my husband; he's the best partner for me, and the
best Dad for our kids. He takes care of us, keeps us on the
straight and narrow, and loves without conditions. I am very
lucky to have him.
I'm in awe of our daughter Brynn. She has amazed me with her
kind heart, a helpful hand and a great attitude. She has been
aware of how important this has been for our family. It is so
heartwarming to see her love and care for her sister. Brynn
really stepped up and took responsibility, and jumped in whether
asked or not. I loved having our special moments of thumb wars
in bed in the dark and private jokes too. I couldn't be any
prouder or thankful for this precious person, our daughter Brynn.
I am in awe of Libby. I cannot believe the divine match of this
little girl from Jiangxi, China to our family in little 'ol
Huntington Woods, Michigan. Libby LeFan has been moved from all
that's familiar, to a family she didn't know, who look, sound
and smell different. She has trusted us, loved us, and counted
on us in a big way. We made a promise to love her and give her
every opportunity we can, and we will. I am grateful she is home
and proud to be her Mother. She is a sweet, happy and healthy
baby.
Now that my heart has spoken, I will give you the quick and
dirty on our trip home. Thursday the 17th was spent packing and
resting up for the next big day of travel. We were then up at
dawn, took a quick plane ride to Shanghai, had a great visit
with our friends the Tyszka's during our layover, and then 14
hours straight through to Detroit.
Libby became a U.S. citizen at touchdown, and we were greeted by
a huge group of family and friends! We played "pass the Libby"
for awhile at the airport and ventured home. My immediate family
came over and we ate, laughed and played with Libby. She is
interested in all the new surroundings and seems comfortable and
happy. We all fell asleep until the first sign of jet lag reared
its head. There is nothing more precious than feeding your baby,
in the quiet of night, with a little hand on top of yours and
eyes as big as saucers looking at you to help make sense of it
all. I whispered, "you're home, you're safe, we love
you"...."Mama's here"...Libby in her happy sweetness seemed to
hear me, and now she sleeps again, and I write this page.
Thank you for journeying with us during this special time.
Please check back to see how Libby is doing once we've been home
for a bit. So far, so good!! All our love... |

Leaving Guangzhou!
It's time to go home as a family of four!

Brynn was a great traveler, or a "trooper" as I like to say!

Libby gets to meet the Tyszka's at the Shanghai/PuDong Airport

Jay was DONE with my snapping pictures at the airport! Libby
