The days are starting to blend together since we've been here so
long. It's funny because in the morning, I sometimes feel like
taking it easy and not going on a planned outing. Every time I
feel that way, we end up at another breathtaking place. Today
was Yuntai Garden Park. It was beautiful. I couldn't believe the
views, the fountains, the clock made out of flowers, and the
rose garden. I was able to take some pictures of a Chinese bride
and groom too.
Libby did really well and we love that she goes with the flow.
We came back and she napped and we all caught our breath and had
some lunch.
In the later afternoon, we went through some older parts of
Guangzhou. We went in and out of narrow streets which were
actually all part of an herbal medicine street market. China is
so different from what we're used to, and we are probably
walking around with these crazy looks on our faces.
We ended up on the bridge to Shamian Island. This was super
unique. The
Island has a French and British influence because of occupancy
during the Opium war. The shopping was great and we picked up
some great things that will remind Libby where she comes from.
We had dinner at Lucy's on the island (an American restaurant)
and enjoyed some burgers (and a beer)! Another major difference
is the challenge to find a decent public restroom with a
changing area for babies. Miss Libby decided to conduct some
major business at the restaurant. Guess what the custom is for
changing a diaper? I was given a pop up changing table at the
side near the kitchen and bussed table leftovers. Sorry patrons!
You just have to go with it!
I can't wait to see Libby in her traditional Chinese dress and
the matching traditional pj's she and Brynn will wear. It will
be a fun Chinese New Year's Eve at our house.
Libby said Mama! Yahoo!! Then she said it and said it and said
it. Music to my ears! Dada still wins by a long shot but any
Mama loves to hear that from their baby. I am no exception.
Thank you God for This Gift. This Life. This Calling. This Love.
