We are all settled into Guangzhou and we were off and running
today. Today was the day for all of the babies from many
different agencies to have their medical exams at the local
clinic. Guangzhou is the city where the U.S. Consulate is, so
the final adoption legalities and visa appointments happen here.
The clinic was true organized chaos and it was so cool to see
many families with children of all ages and from all over China.
There is a common thread you share with nameless families as you
walk by. There is a smile, a “hello” and congratulations to
strangers that all know what it feels like to experience this.
The babies all did well and Libby was a trooper. She weighs
nearly 17 lbs. now! Such a big girl!
After the clinic we all went back to the hotel and got ready for
lunch. We have met the sweetest family from Miami and went to
lunch with them and their new baby Miley. We have never been so
excited to see a Subway sandwiches sign! We had to hurry back
for another paperwork session with Kelly. Right after that was a
trip to Wal-Mart. Imagine all of this back and forth, on and off
a bus, Libby in the Ergo Carrier, Libby out of the Ergo Carrier,
heats blasting, some squatty potties (yes, that means a type of
floor toilet), some regular toilets, and lots and lots of people
everywhere. We were beat.
We came back and had pizza with the Mendez family (Miley’s
family) and then turned in. Jay is snoring as I type, and Brynn
and I are ready to watch a movie. Libby is so much fun. She has
been so easy and a delight! She laughs a ton and especially
loves the fun she has with Jay and Brynn. Libby and I share lots
of fun too, but I have so enjoyed the tender times of feeding
her, rocking her and kissing her little “dim sum dumpling” head
as I teased today! She’s my baby and I’m her Mama, simple as
that. |

What a doll and oh so pretty!
