Today was one of the most interesting experiences we've ever
had. Jenny took us to a park in Nanchang, called August 1st
Park. This is not like a park you've ever seen. It is a
beautiful park that is sandwiched between a lake and the city.
This is where retirees come to exercise, play games like
badminton or practice tai chi or stretch. It was teaming with
people.
The most interesting thing is that we were like celebrities. So
many elderly people came up to us, asking questions, giving us
thumbs up, or commenting on Libby's outfit. The Chinese layer
their children in many layers and they were afraid Libby was
cold. We had her in 2 layers and that wasn't enough. Alot of
people were eager to see Brynn and kept telling us we were
beautiful. I could get used to that. I took some great videos.
Jenny told us that many people think the U.S. is like living in
paradise, so they feel that the baby has a life of paradise
ahead. It was a wonderful experience.
We headed to a Buddhist Temple after and learned about how Monks
live and saw the trees of wishes, candles burning, and many
visitors praying to the Happy Buddha. The Spring festival (New
Year) is in February, so many cone to pray for the new year.
We then headed to the street that has all porcelain stores since
Jiangxi is the porcelain capital in China. We did a little
shopping and ended with a big 'ol Starbucks (Brynn was happy but
Mama was happier).
After all the fun, we retreated back to the hotel! Libby
snoozed, Jay worked out and Brynn and I relaxed. A few updates
on Libby--she's hilarious! Very strong willed, and is rolling
over and flipping herself all over the place. She's happy and
curious. Changing her diaper may be more tiring than climbing
the Great Wall. In all seriousness, she's pure joy, pure love
and all ours. It feels so good to have her here with
us--forever.
