First of all, I have to say "thank you" to anyone who said a
prayer for us yesterday. We had such an amazing travel day, I
just know God carried us here Himself :)
We woke up slowly as both Tori and I had stayed up very late the
night before getting all those last minute details taken care
of. But as soon as our feet hit the floor we were ready to go.
We arrived at the airport in plenty of time, we certainly didn't
want to miss such an important flight! We said our goodbyes in
the line for security. It was bittersweet since I was so excited
to finally be going to bring home my sweet boy, but I knew how
much I was going to miss my babies. Belle started to cry, but
once Chris promised her a ride on the escalator, all was well .
Our plane took off a bit late, but we arrived in Detroit with
just enough time to walk from our gate straight into the
boarding line for the Tokyo flight. Perfect timing! The Tokyo
flight was great, considering it was over 12 hours. Thanks to
Lunesta and a wonderful pre-sleepytime meal. Tori and I both
slept about 8 hours. When we arrived in Tokyo we were feeling
refreshed and a bit punchy from so much time spent traveling. We
bought some drinks and started to break out the cards when they
called for boarding on the flight to Guangzhou. The flight to
Guangzhou brought with it the pleasant surprise of our seat
assignments, right next to another adoptive family. Their
daughter is in a different province, but we will likely meet up
in Guangzhou after we both have adopted our children. They were
traveling with their son, adopted through the SN program also,
who was just adorable.
Once we arrived in Guangzhou, we were able to get through
immigration quickly and easily. Then onto baggage claim where
our bags arrived safely. Yahoo!! We hailed a cab which was able
to drive us the 45 miles to the White Swan in 20 minutes. Thank
goodness Tori and I were prepared for the way the Chinese
drive... definitely an adventure . The White Swan was such a
welcomed sight and we were thrilled to finally be able to lay
supine! We were both out by 12:00 PM and slept soundly until
7:00 AM when we both jumped up, ready to hit the breakfast
buffet. And it was as yummy as I remembered. After making pigs
of ourselves we headed out to, what else? SHOP! The day was
lovely and the blue of the sky was actually peeking out! I've
never seen it so clear here. Must be all the rain this area has
been experiencing. We were able to already purchase some goodies
to take back for the kids. Sophie was sad she could not make the
trip, but was appeased with the promise of some toys and books.
And this mommy is not going to disappoint! Later today we're
going out for a walk to take some pictures, Shamian Island is
truly a stunning place. Tomorrow we leave at 11:00 for the
airport and we'll arrive in Fuzhou in the afternoon. Only 2 more
days until Jude is in my arms!!
Please keep us in your prayers. I cannot express how grateful I
am for all those who care enough about us to send up a prayer in
our behalf.
Until tomorrow! |
