GOTCHA DAY!
I have read that Gotcha Days are just amazing.
There are truly, no words.
Lilly (our substitute guide) came and got us and we ran over to
the Civil Affairs place. Making sure we got there super early so
we could sit and wait and panic for a while. And we did.
We waited for almost 1/2 hour and I happen to go out into the
hallway and I see a group of people coming our way. It was her.
And she has this special walk, because of the cerebral palsy and
because she had 3 thick layers on even though it is hot and
humid outside, and I knew it was her. Instead of waiting for her
to come to me, I ran back in to John and cried.
THIS WAS IT!
All those years came down to this moment.
And we stared shaking.
She was beautiful. She came right to me. And John. And she
played with Samuel. Then, she happen to look for her
grandmother, and she didn't see her.
And then all reality set in for her. And she started bawling.
For a long time.
The Civil Affairs people came in and told us that we ordinarily
have 24 hours to decide if we really want her. But since we
didn't get her yesterday, and in order to make the time for all
the appointments and paper work to fall in place, do we want to
waive that grace time.
Duh.
I guess I understand that. But seeing as you work so hard for
this for years at the other end, and you get yourself out here,
which is not a walk across the park, to think that one would
actually reject your child of the heart?? It is kind of like
rejecting your biological child.
But they still have to make sure.
Anyway, the orphanage director came by and took Elly and she
spoke to her and whatever she said worked because after us
trying for about an hour to get her to stop crying, she stopped
after about a minute with her.
And then she was happy child. She is so delightful. And she
loves to smile.
And we are amazed at the blessing that our GOD has allowed us to
experience once again.
Quote of the Day:
When I first picked her up, I was shocked and mentioned she felt
like a brick. Samuel, when he picked her up "She is our gold
brick." |
Elly walking into the room with her entourage.
With John, before the reality hit.
NOT happy.
Making her ours. |
