The seed of adoption started in
our hearts back in 1995. Our brother in law was a board member
of China Ministries International. Through this, he heard about
the great need for these precious abandoned children in China.
Though our hearts were saying “ YES!!” to this need, life at the
time was making it impossible.
Those seeds grew in our hearts over time, and through all the
joys, trial, tears and laughter of life, the thought was never
quite far from our minds. In GOD’S good timing, and in HIS will,
we have found the child we have been looking for this whole
time.
Our children are thrilled to have their long-awaited little
sister. Samuel has been praying for her since he was 3. He
couldn’t wait for the answer to his prayer, and now can’t wait
to get on that plane to hug her and be the big brother he has
always hoped to be.
After deciding on an adoption agency, we plowed head and started
the dossier. I now understood the statement “I’m paper
pregnant.” 2 days after we sent the dossier to our agency, Kate,
our case worker from All God’s Children sent out yet another
file on waiting children.
Looking through the file, this little girl just gripped my
heart. I was so sad thinking that we haven’t been logged in yet,
our dossier is being perfected on a desk in Oregon, while we
don’t have the right to ask. Regardless, in one of my emails to
Kate, I timidly asked when we were able to “pick”. We had gotten
many waiting children files in the past, but I knew we were not
there yet.
She told me several children were able to be put on hold and the
prospective Adoptive Parents had a 3 month time frame to get
their dossier in.
Going back to the file, she was one of those children!! As soon
as John got home, I showed him the file, and he immediately fell
in love. Samuel was already on board, and when the older
children came home, they also knew she was the one.
That evening, after prayer and tears, I emailed Kate and asked
if she was still available and if she was, can we put her on
hold.
She was, SHE DID!!
Our daughter’s birthdate is January 28, 2007. She is at the
Social Welfare Institute of Nanning City in the Guangxi
Province. She has sequel cerebral palsy, and she is beautiful. |
