Nee Hao!

Hello everyone! Well, last night we witnessed the "granny police" for the first time. We had Jae Lyn in capris and a short sleeved shirt. Not thinking, we headed down a few of the side streets to check out the local scene. We were quickly greeted by about 8 old women. They were feeling Jae's feet. Steve showed them the shoes we had in her bag and they motioned for us to put them on her!! They then were touching her legs trying to pull her pants to her ankles! They were very sweet - smiling and nodding their heads. We at that point headed into a grocery store and I bought a dish towel to put over her arms/legs so one one else would stop us!! I knew about the granny police, but I guess we forgot! It's also very hot here!

Today we ventured to Walmart...interesting! The seafood department included live turtles, frogs and eels. We bought the baby some Chinese clothes and socks.

We took a walk around the center and shopped in a few of the mall type stores. We bought Jae a silver bracelet with two charms that say "happiness" in Chinese.

This evening we took another walk down some side streets. We ran into Peter our guide and he took us way deep into the real life of China! We ordered Jae a traditional Chinese pajama with matching shoes and hat. We picked our own fabric and it will be ready tomorrow!! We also bought a wall hanging with pandas on it. The entire piece is embroidered in silk stitching. Her name, date of birth and Jiangxi Nanchung will be embroidered on the bottom of it.

With all the happenings, it's hard to believe that we actually have the baby that we having been planning and talking about for 30 some months. I understand this culture now and see the way everyone lives. Jae's birth mother is probably the most courageous person ever. We will try to uphold Jae's birth mother's dream of giving this sweet baby girl the best life and opportunity ever.

Bye for now - Love & Miss you all!!
