Happy Children's Day! It's a national holiday and children
are given gifts and spend the day with their parents. I told our
guide, "Everyday is Children's Day in the MacLean family." Today
was a free day and we asked our guide to take us to the zoo. It
was crowded. Qian didn't recognize a lot of the animals and
said, "wow" when she spotted them. She really liked the raccoon.
Chinese people eat raccoon. Raccoon anyone? Not me. It was hot
today, 88, but not as hot as yesterday, 99. After the zoo we
went shopping for shoes. Sam has enjoyed hanging out with our
young guide, John who loves sports. He took Sam to a sports
outlet. Sam found a pair of basketball shoes that he's been
wanting, but couldn't find in the states. John invited Sam to
play basketball with a group of locals before we leave. Sam is
excited.
Qian continues to blossom each day. Sam has found his match.
Qian is spunky and not afraid to stand up for herself. She
points her finger at Sam and speaks mandarin. Sam points his
finger at Qian and repeats what she said. They go back and
forth. There hasn't been a lot of quiet time inside our hotel
room.
Enjoy the pics.
Goodnight from Guangzhou,
