Please check yesterday's post. We have had computer issues. I'm typing this on my iPad, so please excuse any typos.

We didn't get to bed until midnight last night and we had to meet our guide at 9:30 am. I thought I overslept and sprung out of bed. I woke the kids. Needless to say, it was 7:15 and the clock beside the bed displayed the wrong time. I haven't been sleeping soundly. Qian wakes up at least once in the middle of the night to go potty. I think I'm going to have to cut back on the drinks. Setting food and drink limits is difficult. Qian has lived a scheduled life. She ate when food was served and she has never had the luxury of choosing what she wants until now. Today we went to the grocery store and you would have thought that we were at toys r us. Qian was so excited to pick out yogurt, milk, and ice cream flavored suckers.

Today we also had Qian's medical exam. Our guide explained the process to Qian and she became quiet. She wouldn't answer the guide or nurses. However, when an older chinese doctor spoke to her, she answered him clearly. Our guide said, "he's like a serious teacher and Qian listens." We will have to have Qian's eyes examined again I the US, minus the spoon. After the examinations, I said "good job Qian." Qian smiled and said, " Good job Qian."

We also had a traditional chinese dinner tonight. On the way out we spotted lizard tea. ( that was a first). After dinner we went to a local pharmacy. Qian has a cough and I packed every medicine under the sun except for cough syrup. My guide picked out pediatric medicine and I hope it does the trick. I don't want it to turn into a respiratory problem. It was 95 today with 100 percent humidity.

Funny/embarrassing Qian moment - we were on an elevator. A foreigner got on. Qian pointed to his nose, spoke mandarin, pointed to her nose, and then broke out into a ball of laughter. The man got off and a Chinese man got on. Qian looked at the man's nose and pointed to her nose. She shook her head back and forth as if to say his nose was not so big! Sam enjoyed her nose humor!

Good night from Guangzhou-
Betty, Sam, Qian
