DOUG'S AND MARY'S PAGE

We have two incredible “blessings”: A son, Doug, 20, stationed at LakenHeath Royal Air Force Base, England working in the medical field; and a daughter, Mary, 14, who is a 10th grade honor student and an avid golfer. Now God is allowing one more “blessing” to join our loving family with the adoption of our daughter, Alivia Grace Li from China. God is AWESOME and we give HIM all the glory! Through the letters, and poem, below, Doug and Mary share their excitement and joy to have Alivia as their new baby sister.

Dear Alivia,
You are probably not going to be able to read this until you are much older, but I am so happy and excited to have you be a part of our family. You’re going to have awesome parents to take care of you and an awesome big brother and big sister to look up to.
Ever since Mom and Dad told me that we were going have somebody new in our family, I have been counting down the days to see you. When I first got the picture of you, I’m not going to lie to you, I cried. I thought you were so beautiful and I couldn't believe that you were going to be my baby sister. I pray and thank God for bringing you into an awesome Godly home.
I just want you to know that I am your big brother and I am here anytime you need me day or night, near or far. I love you, Alivia, and I can’t wait to meet you. Love from your big brother, Dougie

A Half A World Away
by Jill Work

A half a world away
Sometimes it seems we're so far apart
But a half a world away
Is not too far for a journey of the heart

My little sister,
I'm waiting for you
My baby sister
I know you're waiting, too

A half a world away
A child waits for a family of her own
While a half a world away
A family waits to bring her home

My little sister,
I'm whispering a prayer
My baby sister
I hope that you will soon be here

I hope that we,
you and me,
will no longer be
a half a world away

Dear Ali G,
The poem above, I found for you. I want you to know that I am so excited that you are coming into this family. I want to start by saying that when I found out Mom and Dad were going to adopt I was so thrilled.
When we got your picture, I cried. I want you to know that you are coming into an awesome, loving family. I have the most wonderful parents who will love you unconditionally. You have a big brother that I think is the greatest! He will always be there for you, as will I. No matter when or where, you can count on me to be there for you. There are so many wonderful family and friends waiting to meet you.
I just can’t wait till you become a part of our forever family. I am now
counting the days until Mommy brings you home! Love you so much! Your big sister, Mary
