In China
All Days  |  Previous Day  |  Next Day

The girls slept until almost 8!!! We are definitely on China time now, which makes me scared to go home. We didn’t have to rush this morning because we didn’t have to go to the medical until after 10. After my shower, Aron told me he would go out and get me a Starbucks!!! Does he love me or what! It was heavenly, and tasted just like home!!! YUMMY! We had a nice buffet breakfast, then left Kyra and Ryann with Grammy and Papa. First we had to get Leah’s visa picture taken. Then we went to the clinic. We had to go to about 4 different rooms where they checked various things. They wanted her to walk for them so that they could see that she could, but she was so quiet and shy, that she wouldn’t walk at all. I kept telling them that she not only walks but runs. I think they believed me, who knows? She only needed 2 shots plus the TB test, which we were happy about. Parker, a little boy in our travel group, needed 7! And Ling Ling, another girl in our group, needed 6. I was hoping that she would be okay with only 2, but about 20 seconds after the first one, she started crying. Poor baby! But at least I got a lot of good cuddle time with her! We had to hang out for 30 minutes after the shots to make sure there were no reactions, and then we went back for lunch and nap. During naptime, I went over to the White Swan where the other couples in our travel group are staying (we are at the Victory) where one parent from each couple and our guide did some paperwork. Afterwards, we went to Lucy’s again for dinner with the group! It was a lot of fun, and the kids all enjoyed seeing each other. Kyra and Ryann really like all the little ones. Then we walked a little before coming back to the hotel for some playtime and bed.

So, did I mention that Leah is 2?! Oh boy… is she ever! She is very determined and stubborn, and does not like when things do not go her way. Aron and I had planned on being fairly lenient these first few weeks to help her get over the transition, but we’ve definitely had to discipline a bit more than we had intended. She’s not a big fan of being told no, but unfortunately, there are just certain things that we can’t let her think are okay. A number of them are dangerous. And some are just out of the question. For example this morning she was completely beside herself because we wouldn’t give her coffee. But obviously that’s not something we’re going to let her have so that she makes a smooth transition. So hopefully you all get what I’m saying, and don’t think we’re horrible. Did I mention… 2… oh wait, I did!

Tomorrow we don’t have anything official to do. We are going to go to a museum and shopping. It will be nice to have more time with our travel group (we make up half of the group!) and get to know them a little better!
