She was brought to the orphanage by the police on Nov. 20, 2007. We don’t know where she was found, but hopefully we’ll find out. Guo is her last name, and Yin Feng 银 凤 means Silver Phoenix. She is in the Xining Children’s Welfare Institute, aka the Xining Children’s Home. It is co-run by Hong Kong’s Christian Action. Xining is located in the eastern part of the Qinghai province, just east of Tibet. It’s actually considered part of the Tibetan Plateau. She is missing a couple of toes on her right foot, and there is either a curvature of the tibia, or a missing fibula, or both. It’s sort of hard to know exactly because a couple of her reports state it differently. The right leg is a little over 1” shorter than the left. We will definitely have some Orthopedic specialists in our future!

There is a good chance that she is in a foster home, but we don’t know. We’ll know a lot more when we go. But from everything that we have learned about her orphanage, it seems to be one of the best in China.
