Katie is an amazing little girl and such a blessing to our
family. After spending 10 ½ months in an orphanage, with very
little stimulation (but having all of her physical needs met),
she came to us with the abilities of a 5-6 month old. Within
just a few days, we saw incredible improvement in her abilities,
and she has grown by leaps and bounds in every way since we’ve
had her with us. When she came to us, she had never had been
given any food other than her bottle, now she eats anything and
everything she’s offered (she has a great appetite!). She’s
nearly walking unassisted (she can move fast if she’s holding on
to someone!) and is now on par with the average one year old
(she celebrated her 1st birthday on December 14th). Her big
brothers adore her, and it warms our hearts to see them interact
with her. She absolutely lights up when they’re around!
As for Mom and Dad, we feel such contentment…we are so amazingly
blessed at the incredible gifts God, our Heavenly Father, has
bestowed upon us. We are enjoying every moment with our four
children. Every day is an adventure, and it’s fun to observe
Katie’s daily activities. Truthfully, Mom doesn’t get much done
during the day anymore…it’s just too much fun to watch and play
with Katie!
Our boys are growing into fine young men, and were so helpful on
our trip to China. Each of them had a wonderful, eye-opening
trip, and has stored away precious memories of their travels to
Katie’s homeland to share with her someday. All three of the
boys would like to return to China, and I think that says a lot
about their experiences there. We loved getting to know the
other 10 families in our travel group, and hope we will all
continue to keep in touch, if only through cards and letters at
Christmastime!
