Well today is our last full day here in China. We are both
very much looking forward to being home, but not necessarily the
FOUR flights that will get us home! Anyway, we have had a very
blessed time here in China and will be forever grateful to the
people who have taken such good care of Grace in her formative
years. She came to us in excellent health and was obviously very
well loved at the foster home in Beijing.
Today, Rong Rong actually woke up at 3:45 and called out for
‘Mama’. She came into bed with me and fell immediately asleep.
It was lovely! This morning involved another trip to the hotel
playroom and then the playground. But she got upset and I wasn’t
sure why as she loved the swings the other day. After her nap,
we (Mike, Auntie Jacqui, Grace and myself) all went for a walk
around the neighbourhood and discovered some very interesting
houses – most people here live in small apartments so it was
unusual to find such big houses in the middle of the city. Then
we walked through a lovely park and Grace was able to walk about
which she loves. She loves to hear the birds sing. We are now
back in the hotel room getting ready to go out for dinner.
Some of you have asked how Grace’s English is doing. I can
answer - better than our Chinese!!! Here is a list of words she
has learned; no, yes, one, two, three, that way, goodbye, hello,
Twinkle, Twinkle and Amen!
For obvious reasons we will not be posting tomorrow but we will
give an update from Clearwater once we have settled back home.
Thank you for following our journey and being so encouraging to
us and Grace. I know she will be very well loved by you all!
Please say - Father John here goes - not one, not two, not three
but four prayers for our flights tomorrow, for Grace to be
comfortable and hopefully sleepy…
Love, Margaret and Mike
Just a little footnote from super-sleepy auntie ayi: I was
sound asleep at 8.20am this morning when Margaret rang to say
they were off to breakfast! This was my last full day with Rong
Rong, but we’ve had great fun in the park playing the swinging
‘up, down, left, right’ game which is exhausting for me, but
great fun for her. We also did quite a lot of jumping up and
down, rather reminiscent of pogo-ing in my teens, but this time
probably looking slightly less cool…….we’re back in the room now
and there’s lots of yawning from Mike and Margaret – so everyone
is sleepy apart from RR of course. I know you’ll all love
meeting her and I can’t wait to see her and meet some of you
(again) in January. |
