On Monday April the 19th we first saw a picture of Hui Rong Dang. Things moved quickly after that first sight; we asked our adoption agency, Bay Area Adoption Services, to hold her file for us to review. We quickly had her medical information reviewed by a specialist International Adoption doctor in Cincinnati. That review took two days and on the morning of Thursday April 22nd 2010, we had a very positive phone conversation with the doctor. Other than her obvious visual impairment, Hui Rong appeared to be doing well. We decided that we would love to be her parents and were prepared to learn and grow with Hui Rong as we discover the extent of her visual impairment and possible options for treatment in the United States.

That Thursday was special for another reason too. After talking to the doctor we drove to Tampa for Margaret’s US Citizenship Ceremony at Tampa Convention Center. Before the ceremony we had enough time to go into Starbucks and enjoy a latte. It was in that Starbucks we wrote our Letter of Intent to adopt Hui Rong, we emailed it to our Agency and the waiting began……
