CONSULAR DAY
Today has been an ‘interesting day’ – covert language for a few
tantrums and meltdowns! But as you can see from the pics, she
manages to remain charming throughout! We had a rushed breakfast
because we had to be back in our room for a call telling us that
all was ok for us to go to the US Consulate this afternoon. Once
we got the call, I took Grace to the playground again. We were
the only ones there and she enjoyed sliding and counting the
steps up to the slide – many times!
The visit to the Consulate was with 32 other American families
and we had to swear that we had told the truth on all paperwork.
We will be given an envelope on Friday that we will hand in at
San Francisco airport on arrival so that Grace can become a US
citizen the moment her squeaky shoes hit the ground! After the
bus ride back to the hotel, we gathered with other families for
a photo session and then a birthday party! Grace loves cake but
because she had not had a proper nap, she got increasingly
fractious – but once again Cheerios came to the rescue (I think
she may have a sponsorship deal going with them)
She is now sleeping deeply and I have just had a Skype
conversation with a 6th grade class from Saint Paul’s School.
They asked some great questions and it was really nice to see
some familiar faces. I even took the computer into the bedroom
so they could see Grace asleep. She has no idea that she is an
international star!!!
Tomorrow a trip to the zoo is on the itinerary and as Grace is
obsessed with monkeys we hope that there will be some there.
Even though she won’t be able to see them, hopefully they will
be noisy and our guide will be able to tell her all about them.
Lots of love to you all,
