We took the oath yesterday afternoon. It was our official
last step in this whole process, other than flying home. As soon
as our plane lands on american soil, Lilli Kate will be a
citizen of the United States!
We are in chinese limbo at this point. Everyone is just waiting
to check out and hit the airport. Half of our group fly out
tonight. We, along with 9 other families, fly out tomorrow. This
afternoon and tonight we will be attempting to pack everything
that we can and leave the things that we don't need. The weight
restrictions are tough, especially considering that we are all
attempting to pack up souvenirs, etc. We have been advised to
check in as much luggage as possible straight through to Atlanta
and keep what we need for our Hong Kong overnight stay in our
carry-on. In other words, our luggage will be waiting on us in
Atlanta when we arrive on Friday. Sure it will! Makes me a
little nervous, but we will give it a go.
Funny story...last night we were all ready for bed. Sweet little
Lilli was asleep on the bed. Sean and I are watching her sleep.
How sweet! Sean looks at me and says "Is she going to be able to
speak English?" No lie. I have laughed about that all day.
Earlier today, Sean is watching a guy walk a dog and he is
speaking Chinese to the dog. Sean says to me, "It is so amazing
that that dog can understand Chinese!"
We really need to get home!
Can't wait to see everyone. Tomorrow Hong Kong. Friday Atlanta! |
